Lithonia Lighting is recalling about 11,532 commercial outdoor RSX luminaires after reports that adjustable arms broke and fixtures fell; the company is offering free repairs, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said Oct. 22.
Lithonia Lighting reported 13 cases of adjustable tilt arm mountings breaking and four reports of fixtures falling. The CPSC notice said no injuries had been reported. It identifies the arm’s knuckle as a possible failure point that can release a luminaire and create an impact hazard.
The affected arms were sold with AASP, AARP, AAWB or AAWSC mounting options. They connect luminaires to poles or wall brackets and allow aiming from level to 90 degrees upward.
The CPSC lists two manufacturing windows for affected mountings: August 2019 through July 2020, and August 2024 through April 2026. Lithonia’s recall page gives more precise ranges: Aug. 19, 2019, through July 31, 2020, and Aug. 1, 2024, through June 16, 2026. The company’s listed end date is later than the CPSC’s April 2026 endpoint.
The agency notice names RSX luminaires, while Lithonia’s page says the mountings were used on RSX and RSXF luminaires. The company says mountings used with RSX1 and RSXF1 luminaires are excluded from the later manufacturing period; the CPSC notice does not list those exclusions. Customers can contact Lithonia to confirm whether a specific fixture is covered.
The CPSC says the luminaires were sold through commercial distributors across the United States from August 2019 to August 2026 for $400 to $2,200. Its examples include Turtle & Hughes Inc. and Consolidated Electrical Distributors.
Owners should keep the area beneath a potentially covered fixture clear and call Lithonia Lighting at 855-307-2454 to arrange a free repair. The company says a qualified professional will replace the arm assembly. Lithonia lists phone support hours as Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
