Luke Jensen began a three-year term as chair of the National Savings and Investments (NS&I) Board on Nov. 2, leading the state-backed savings institution that helps finance the U.K. government.

After a selection process HM Treasury described as fair and open, the Minister for Pensions announced Jensen’s appointment Nov. 4.

Jensen has served on the NS&I Board since April 1, 2024. He became interim chair when Lord Gerard Lemos CMG CBE stepped down in July 2025 to take a role in the House of Lords’ Whip’s Office. Jensen is also a non-executive director at the Co-operative Group and a senior adviser to the board of Eat Happy Hana Group.

The minister said Jensen would help NS&I provide government finance, address the recent bereavement claims issue and continue its transformation.

NS&I Interim Chief Executive Sir Jim Harra welcomed the appointment, saying Jensen’s experience would help maintain the institution’s role in government funding and the U.K. savings market.
