REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., April 16, 2018 -- iPass Inc. (NASDAQ:IPAS), a leading provider of global mobile connectivity, today announced a seven figure deal with Lycamobile, the world’s largest international mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), to provide global Wi-Fi to its monthly plan customers.
The service will be available to Lycamobile’s monthly plan customers through a white-labelled version of iPass SmartConnect, which provides simple and secure Wi-Fi access to millions of hotspots worldwide. Lycamobile will also be integrating the iPass SmartConnectTM Software Development Kit (SDK) into its service platform, making it even easier for users to benefit from global Wi-Fi in the future.
Lycamobile considers global Wi-Fi to be a key driver in providing extra value to its customers and standing out in a competitive market. Global Wi-Fi is an opportunity to promote its monthly bundles and also to develop new revenue streams through selling Wi-Fi packages directly to its customers.
“As the world’s largest MVNO, we’re always looking for ways to help people stay connected. Providing global Wi-Fi connectivity will make a big difference for our customers,” said Subaskaran Allirajah, Chairman of Lyca Group. “We are committed to offering extended value and service availability to our customers, whether they are connected to cellular or Wi-Fi. iPass’ expertise in connection management allows automatic selection of the best available service for our subscribers.”
“We’re pleased to partner with Lycamobile to provide global Wi-Fi connectivity to its core customers. This is a further example of how iPass SmartConnect helps our MVNOs quickly realise the benefits of global Wi-Fi,” said Patricia Hume, chief commercial officer at iPass. “MVNOs are looking for a competitive advantage, and global Wi-Fi is a great way to reduce their network costs, while improving customer retention and acquisition.”
