BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 22, 2018 -- IoT and smart technologies will be pivotal to the future success of Smart Cities, but only if players collaborate to embrace a holistic approach. InterDigital’s (NASDAQ:IDCC) Smart-Cities focused business, Chordant™, will showcase how to maximize Smart City deployment potential through several key use cases at Mobile World Congress, the industry's premier conference, from February 26 - March 1, 2018, in Barcelona.
“The important role of Smart Cities in our future cannot be understated,” said Jim Nolan, Executive Vice President, Chordant, at InterDigital. “Our MWC 2018 demos with our industry-leading collaborators show the value that can be unlocked when the ecosystems work together in harmony utilizing a standards-based approach across different devices, networks and applications.”
The demonstrations will be powered by the Chordant platform, a solution based on the oneM2MTM standard, which has already won two Smart City recognitions this year. It is with great honor that this year’s demonstrations will feature efforts with numerous ecosystem players including Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., machineQTM, a Comcast Service, and TIM:
- Smart City Data Marketplace: Chordant will showcase its oneTRANSPORTTM data marketplace service which enables real-time Smart City data to be aggregated and shared by multiple organizations, enabling new services that improve traffic congestion and air pollution.
- Multi-Connectivity and Edge Processing: Chordant will demonstrate an airport use case where multi-connectivity and edge processing capabilities from Qualcomm Technologies enable both machine vision and low-latency critical decision making.
- SCEF Interface to Core Networks: Chordant will showcase the importance of interfacing enterprises with operator core networks through SCEF. The use cases will include preservation of device battery life.
- Monitoring over LWPA Networks: Chordant will demonstrate monitoring over different IoT networks. Use cases will utilize networks from TIM and machineQTM, a Comcast Service.
Attendees of Mobile World Congress can see these IoT demos, along with 5G and sensor demos, at InterDigital’s pavilion in Hall 7, Stand 7C61. For more information about Chordant, visit: www.chordant.io.
