The newest Apple leak is all about a potential redesign for the next MacBook Air. Aside from significant tweaks in the form factor, the entry-level laptop could also launch with color options similar to the 24-inch iMac.
MacBook Air may look very different this year
Apple fans might already have the first look at the next MacBook Air, which is reportedly launching with new color options. Leaker Jon Prosser revealed the possible design of the upcoming laptop in concept images created by RendersbyIan.
In one of the concept renders, the upcoming MacBook Air is imagined in all seven colors that were announced for the new 24-inch iMac last month, including green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. But Prosser only noted seeing a blue MacBook Air, while his sources claim a green option is also in the pipeline.

Prosser refrains from sharing actual images leaked to him to protect his sources, which was his practice in leaking the designs of the AirPods Max and AirTag last year. It is worth noting that the renders he shared for both products turned out to be very close to the appearance of the actual products. In this case, however, Prosser explained that he was shown parts of a disassembled device that he and his sources "assume" belong to an upcoming MacBook Air.

The leak notably shows the future MacBook Air having white display bezels. This is a particularly interesting detail considering the mixed reactions the 24-inch iMac received for the same design aspect. Apple is also rumored to change the keyboard color from black to white. The keys reportedly look larger, making the trackpad seem smaller than currently available models.
If the leak remains accurate until the next MacBook Air launch, Apple might be getting rid of the tapered form factor. The laptop’s body also looks fully flat and just thin enough to fit the USB-C ports.
MacBook Air release date window
It was not definitively stated in the leak if this design is planned for the 2021 version of MacBook Air. Fans may have to wait five to six months to confirm if Apple would end up using the reported form factor. New MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops are anticipated to launch later this year with the next version of the Apple silicon chip.
