“MacGyver” Season 3 started its third installment quite nicely and is set to create some character development for the show’s most despicable villain. In its sixth episode, Mac (Lucas Till) will be forced to work with Murdoc (David Dastmalchian), whom the protagonist has a deep resentment towards, Carter Matt reported.
Murdoc is responsible for killing Jill (Kate Bond), which he did when the Phoenix Foundation member was driving a car. Her murder still burns in the mind of Mac as Murdoc killed her during the premiere of “MacGyver” Season 3.
Prior to this, Murdoc also tried to kill Samantha (Isabel Lucas), another agent of the Phoenix Foundation. In season 2, Murdoc shot Samantha and left her for dead. Fortunately, she managed to call Mac for help and was able to recover from her injury. After the incident, Samantha told everyone that she’ll be flying over to Australia where she’ll recuperate with her sister. As for Murdoc himself, the cold-blooded villain will seek the help of Mac in “MacGyver” Season 3 as his son was kidnapped by an unknown entity.
This team-up will happen on Nov. 2 and will provide a bit of background of Murdoc. Although portrayed as a psychopath, the show will try to shed some light on the antagonist and show the audience why the character does the things he does. It’s always a great idea to add layers to the personality of a villain in order to avoid the character being one-dimensional. And in “MacGyver” Season 3, this character development will certainly add more shade to Murdoc and his motivations.
This is especially true since the November episode will also introduce a dangerous individual from Murdoc’s past. Of course, at the end of the day, Murdoc is still a villain and will eventually answer for the crimes he committed. As for the next episode of “MacGyver” Season 3, episode 5 is slated to air on Oct. 26 and is titled “Dia de Muertos + Sicarios + Family.”
