‘Madam Secretary’ season 3’s episode 8, entitled "Breakout Captivity", will follow Elizabeth as she finds new information that could threaten the Iran-U.S. peace treaty. Meanwhile, president Dalton awaits election results and may be reelected for another term.
The synopsis for episode 8 posted on Cartermatt reads, “As President Dalton (Keith Carradine) eagerly awaits voting results on Election Day, Elizabeth (Tea Leoni) uncovers information that could put the U.S.’s peace deal with Iran in jeopardy.
Also, election night proves to be one filled with possible romance for some of McCord’s staffers, and Jason (Evan Roe) challenges his parents by supporting one of Dalton’s presidential competitors.”
According to iTech Post, President Dalton may be able to secure himself on the seat of President of the United States but will struggle with new challenges upon reelection. Although he will come out as the victor, he will learn that the country’s peace agreement with Iran is in danger and may abort it following the Iranian government’s violation of the treaty. Elizabeth will have to work in saving the U.S.-Iran peace agreement before it is too late.
The promo for “Breakout Captivity” finds Elizabeth learning about how the Russians are supplying Iran with weapons. There is concrete evidence to support the findings. It is also revealed that some Russians were killed in the process and this will cause more trouble for the U.S. government.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Henry’s (Tim Daly) self-proclaimed anarchist son Jason may be rebelling against his parents by showing support for Dalton’s presidential competition.
