MakeMyTrip returned to profit in fiscal 2027’s second quarter as constant-currency gross bookings rose 20.9%, while a weaker rupee tempered reported revenue growth and higher fuel prices pressured international long-haul travel from India.

For the three months ended Sept. 30, the company recorded an unaudited IFRS net profit of $1.769 million, compared with a $5.738 million loss a year earlier. Revenue reached $235.155 million, up 2.5% from $229.341 million in reported U.S. dollars.

MakeMyTrip’s 11.2% revenue growth figure uses constant currency, applying exchange rates from the year-earlier comparison period. Gross bookings totaled $2.7247 billion, an increase of 11.3% in reported dollars and 20.9% on a constant-currency basis.

The company said the Indian rupee depreciated about 10% against the U.S. dollar year over year. It cited the weaker rupee and higher fuel prices as pressures on international long-haul travel from India, with domestic demand partly offsetting them.

Reported revenue from bus ticketing rose 16.6% to $39.1 million, while the Others segment increased 21.6% to $32.3 million. Air-ticketing revenue fell 7.2% to $56.7 million, and hotels and packages revenue declined 1% to $107.1 million.

Adjusted operating profit, a non-IFRS measure, was $46.2 million, up from $44.2 million. IFRS results from operating activities rose to $36.7 million from $34.4 million. Net finance costs fell to $29.8 million from $35.9 million; MakeMyTrip attributed most of the decline to an $8.3 million reduction in net foreign-exchange losses.

On Monday, Oct. 26, MakeMyTrip co-founder and Group CEO Rajesh Magow said Myra users converted at about 1.7 times the rate of nonusers. He said the AI assistant handled more than 90,000 customer conversations per day and helped with more than 3,000 bookings daily. Magow added that Myra autonomously resolved more than 53% of post-booking questions about flights and hotels. He did not quantify the assistant’s contribution to overall quarterly bookings or profit.
