Malteurop’s Chunlei plant in China uses biomass for heat and wind and solar power for electricity; VIVESCIA describes the facility as low-carbon and says it expands service to Chinese brewers and export customers.
VIVESCIA says the biomass used for heat comes entirely from local sources, with rice straw making up most of it. Wind and solar generate the plant’s electricity, while battery storage supports the supply.
The facility is near Yancheng in Jiangsu province, about 300 km north of Shanghai. Its annual malt capacity is 220,000 tonnes, according to VIVESCIA.
VIVESCIA said it finalized the acquisition in summer 2026 and marked the plant’s inauguration Oct. 23. EconoTimes previously reported on Malteurop’s acquisition of Chunlei.
VIVESCIA says Malteurop began its China presence at the Baoding site in Hebei province about 30 years ago. Guillaume Mothe, VIVESCIA Group’s managing director, said Malteurop was deepening its relationships with local malt and brewing businesses.
VIVESCIA said further investment to increase capacity remains possible, but gave no timetable. The group also plans to work with local partners on what it calls the malt industry’s premiumization.
