Police managed traffic entering Orléans Sunday morning after a large anti-far-right march the previous day, as National Rally candidate Marine Le Pen prepared to address the congress in her first 2027 campaign speech.
France 24 reported that about 10,000 National Rally members were expected at the gathering. Le Pen’s appearance was scheduled as her first speech of the presidential campaign for 2027.
Thousands took part in Saturday’s march, where demonstrators chanted anti-fascist slogans, the outlet reported. The congress was in its second day Sunday, according to EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of the gathering.
EconoTimes had previously reported that Le Pen was expected to launch her campaign at the congress, where Jordan Bardella was being re-elected as party leader. Left-wing and anti-racist groups had announced counterdemonstrations around the event, EconoTimes reported in its earlier coverage.
