As the Sakura season approaches in Japan, McDonald's Japan has launched a new lineup of drinks and sweets inspired by the traditional hanami custom. The McCafe branches will feature the Uji Matcha Frappe and Adzuki Milk Frappe as the star drinks on the menu.
Taste of Tradition in Every Sip
SoraNews 24 reported that the Uji Matcha Frappe, priced at 470 yen, offers the authentic flavor of matcha from Uji in Kyoto, blended with milk and topped with whipped cream and matcha powder.
A Blend of Eastern Delicacies
The Adzuki Milk Frappe, priced at 490 yen, combines milk and Adzuki red bean paste, garnished with whipped cream, matcha powder, and adzuki beans. The Yuzu Macaron, at 190 yen, offers a refreshing yuzu flavor, and the Vanilla Uji Matcha Hot Latte, at 440 yen, features Uji matcha and vanilla syrup.
The menu reflects the essence of Japanese flavors, just in time for the cherry blossom season, with a limited-time offer running from 21st March to the end of April.
Star-Studded Ad Campaign
The promotional commercial features Japanese actress Suzu Hirose and comedians Nobuyuki Hanawa and Nobuyuki Tsuchiya in a traditional tea ceremony setting.
Through this seasonal menu, McDonald's Japan introduces its customers to unique flavors and offers an immersive cultural experience. Engaging with the Sakura season through food and beverages allows locals and tourists to connect with Japanese traditions in a modern, accessible way. This approach enhances the dining experience and enriches the cultural understanding and appreciation among McDonald's clientele.
The ad highlights the essence of Japanese culture and flavors, with Hirose facing a dilemma over choosing between the two star drinks.
The spring lineup is a temporary addition, and customers engaging with McDonald's Japan on Twitter may have a chance to win exclusive rewards during the promotion period, according to McDonald's Japan.
