The exchange says customer holdings remain unaffected as it investigates a security incident and works to resume deposits and withdrawals, while the temporary halt limits customers' ability to move funds on and off the platform.
Mercado Bitcoin said it contained the incident shortly after detection. It reported no customer losses or data leaks. Its teams were reviewing the event, tracing asset movements and coordinating with authorities and other relevant partners.
The exchange later said it shared destination addresses for tracing and was preparing to resume service safely. It gave no restart estimate or explanation of the incident.
Deposits and withdrawals are the routes customers use to move cryptocurrency into or out of an exchange account. Customers cannot use either route during the halt. EconoTimes' earlier coverage of the suspension outlined the initial interruption and response.
