Mercado Bitcoin said it will use its own funds to replace customer assets affected by the Nov. 2 hot-wallet attack. The exchange expects customers to avoid losses.

The company said it contained the incident quickly. Bitquery found that customer deposit addresses continued sending funds to the attacker for about four hours after the exchange announced containment, while Mercado Bitcoin investigates the breach and traces the assets with authorities and partners.

Bitquery's analysis covered transfers from wallets linked to Mercado Bitcoin across 11 blockchains on Nov. 2, as EconoTimes previously reported on the cross-chain transfers. Bitquery's $48.6 million figure values transfers when they occurred; Mercado Bitcoin says it will use its own funds to replace affected customer assets.
