A Met Office fog alert covering much of England and parts of Wales begins at 1 p.m. ET Sunday (18:00 UTC), with poor visibility posing a risk of slower journeys and flight disruption.

The yellow warning runs from 1 p.m. ET Sunday, Nov. 8 (18:00 UTC), to 6 a.m. ET Monday, Nov. 9 (11:00 UTC). It covers the Midlands, London and southeast England, the East of England, parts of northwest and southwest England, Yorkshire and Wales.

Fog is forecast to build overnight, with visibility potentially dropping to 50 meters or less in isolated places. The lowest readings are forecast for scattered locations rather than across the full warning area.

The Met Office says reduced visibility could slow bus and train services and lead to flight delays or cancellations. It expects fog to thin slowly later Monday morning in the UK (UTC).

Met Office operational meteorologist Niamh Murray told the Press Association that long autumn nights, clear skies and light winds had allowed temperatures to fall and fog to form.
