French motorsport exec Jean Todt, in an interview with Argentina's La Nacion, recently asked fans and the press to respect Michael Schumacher's privacy concerning his current state of health. Todt talked about the state of the motorsport industry, missing his career as a Formula One team manager, and the possibility of bringing back Formula One to Argentina. But there was one topic that the veteran Formula One professional declined to answer during the interview.
Todt mentioned that he does feel blessed to be able to visit Schumacher personally but believes it is time for the legendary driver to live his life in peace. While Todt has had a history of talking about Schumacher's health in the past, the current president of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile has now declined to provide an update, even declining to answer the interviewer's question if Schumacher's health has improved.
Schumacher suffered a ski accident that resulted in a serious head injury in 2013 which required the retired Formula One driver to be put into a medically induced coma. The fanfare around Schumacher's injuries went so far as to involve an alleged theft of Schumacher's medical records for sale to various news outlets
Schumacher's wife, Corinna Schumacher, through Michael Schumacher's manager, Sabine Kehm, has already asked fans to respect the family's privacy regarding Schumacher's recovery. Beyond the request for treating Schumacher's recovery as a family matter, no other statements regarding the state of Schumacher's recovery, or why the desire for privacy, have been provided by Schumacher's camp.
In the more public sphere, fans would be glad to know that Mick Schumacher, driving for Prema Theodore Racing, won his Formula 3 maiden race at Spa. The track at Spa was the same track that his father, Michael Schumacher, had first achieved victory before going on his legendary 91-win record.
While Mick Schumacher is currently standing at eighth place in the individual driver standings, his team is already set at first place in the team standings. Also, Formula 3 Championships are currently in mid-season, which can allow the young Schumacher to potentially climb the season's ranks.
