Michael Schumacher was badly hurt in an accident from an activity that was supposed to be fun. He almost died when his head hit a rock while skiing as his brain injury turned out to be severe. It left him in a coma for weeks, and since then, his condition or health progress has been kept a secret from the public.
His fans want to know how he is now, and it seems that after more than five years of being kept in the dark, they will finally get their wish as Schumacher’s movie documentary is set to be released before this year ends. What’s more, as per Deadline, Schumi’s whole family led by his wife Corinna and father Rolf have all agreed to do the documentary on the F1 legend’s life including his 2013 accident.
The documentary is expected to reveal whether the rumors that he is still bedridden or able to walk already. Once shown, the theories and assumptions about his health would be confirmed or debunked.
In any case, initially, the Michael Schumacher documentary will only be shown in German-speaking countries, but it will also be released in other countries after the bidding for which production outfit or streaming sites should release it ends. The selection will take place during this year’s Cannes Festival.
According to Variety, Schumacher’s documentary will feature interviews from his family members and close colleagues in the racing world. His past competitors will be interviewed as well, and they will share how competitive and fierce Schumi was when on the tracks.
The film about the 50-year-old former racer’s life story was produced by B | 14 FILM’s Benjamin Seikel and Vanessa Nöcker together with DCM Productions. Probably, another highlight of the “Schumacher” documentary is the never-before-seen footages of Michael Schumacher. His 50th birthday celebration early this year could be part of the film too.
Finally, producer Seikel revealed why they had set out to make the Michael Schumacher documentary. “It is an important year for Michael Schumacher with his 50th birthday in January and the 25th anniversary of his first World Championship victory in November,” he said. “We are thrilled to have the trusting cooperation of Michael Schumacher’s family and management - without their support this film would not have been possible.”
