Microsoft’s exit offer may extend to roughly 60,000 staff across four countries, equivalent to about 27% of its workforce, though that is not a forecast of take-up.

Microsoft’s full-time headcount stood at 223,000 on June 30, 2026. Employees at Microsoft’s internal level 70 or lower can qualify only when their team is included. EconoTimes previously covered the offer alongside Microsoft’s annual results.

The program’s geographic scope includes teams in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and India. Its package combines financial assistance with career-planning services.

Availability varies among organizations, said Amy Coleman, Microsoft’s executive vice president and chief people officer. “Some organizations are providing the Voluntary Exit Offer, and some are not.”

Microsoft said a separate voluntary retirement program offered earlier in 2026 drew participation from more than 30% of eligible employees.

The Oct. 26 announcement did not give an expected acceptance count, package amounts or a decision deadline. Microsoft said it would email eligible employees with the offer details.
