Mircosoft is taking charge of deciding when to roll out Windows Phone updates. WMPowerUser reports that the tech giant will from now on push the updates directly. As far as carriers are concerned, they will be in the loop and involved in testing along with insiders, but Microsoft will have the ultimate and full control.
“Microsoft is working closely with mobile operators to leverage their testing and our flighting to meet and exceed current quality bars. We will use their input but will decide when to send the updates out based on input form Mobile Operators and our Windows Insiders”, Microsoft told WMPowerUser in a statement.
On Monday, Microsoft also rolled out Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10565 to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. The latest build comes integrated with Skype messaging, calling and video capabilities; tab preview improved Cortana and much more. The tech giant seeks to ensure that latest updates reach users timely.
“The optimum way to ensure our customers are running the best Windows is to get them the latest updates for Windows 10. Delivering Windows 10 as a service means we can offer ongoing security updates, new features and capabilities – we’d like to make sure people can get access to the latest Windows 10 updates as soon as they are available”, it added.
Microsoft’s recently announced Lumia 950 and 950XL will come with Windows 10 and issued a first list of Lumia smartphones that will receive a free upgrade when available: Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 635 (1 GB RAM), Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830, and Lumia 930.
