Watertown, MA, Oct. 13, 2016 -- Mimecast Limited (NASDAQ: MIME), a leading email and data security company, today announced its Data Logging API and Mimecast for Splunk app are now available on SplunkBase.
The new Data Logging API allows Mimecast customers and partners to integrate data to their security information and event management (SIEM) or data analytics platform of choice to help identify current email vulnerabilities in their organization and defend against future cyber threats. Customers and partners can also achieve enhanced detection, analysis and visibility over email security events and unwanted access attempts.
“Our new Data Logging API represents Mimecast’s next push into email security visibility and preparedness,” said David Hood, director of technology marketing, Mimecast. “In order to make stronger email security a reality for everyone, we need to make sure that organizations have more precise data about their email security history and potential attackers. The Splunk app demonstrates how easy it is for the Mimecast API to bring this level of data into SIEM platforms and leverage it for IT security investigations.”
With Mimecast’s Data Logging API, users can aggregate critical email events with other security and IT sources. The result is complete visibility over an organization’s email security and history of attacks. This includes details such as the country of origin for rejected emails or access attempts; specific individuals or departments in an organization that have been targeted by whaling email attacks; and statistics for types of malware rejected or types of messages quarantined as spam. With the Mimecast app for Splunk, organizations can use the popular SIEM platform for data collection, reporting, analytics and geocoding, all without the need for custom coding or scripting. Splunk users can download the application from SplunkBase and customize the reports to meet security and compliance requirements.
“Mimecast did a fantastic job on its Splunk integration and application. It was so easy to install and the value was apparent immediately,” said Mark Kozlowski, systems administrator, Richards, Layton & Finger, PA. “For our law firm, the TLS information, including the ciphers, gives good visibility into which domains are sending encrypted mail and which aren’t. The graphs provide much better visibility and really highlight outliers that could otherwise go unnoticed.”
Mimecast customers and partners can use the Data Logging API to integrate email event and access attempt data with any other SIEM or data analytics platform. Splunk customers can download the app from SplunkBase. Learn more, contact us or connect with Mimecast customers by visiting our Mimecaster Central customer community.
