‘Moana’ recently released its official U.S. teaser trailer ahead of its scheduled premiere for November. It also released its newest international poster showing the titular character on a boat as she traverses a vast body of water.
Disney’s next full-feature animated film is set to feature the studios’ first ever Polynesian princess as she navigates the oceans in search of a fabled island. Moana is joined by a legendary demi-god in her quest.
The official teaser trailer opened to an introduction to the demi-god Maui. The voice-over exclaimed that Maui is known for wielding a gigantic fish hook and superpowers such as pulling islands out of the sea and battling sea monsters. He is the Pacific Islands’ greatest hero.
By the end of the trailer, Maui is seen transforming himself into a majestic bird.
The film’s official international poster posted on Comingsoon.net also featured Moana and Maui on a tiny boat sailing on a big blue body of water.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be voicing Maui in the upcoming film. He is joined by the 14-year old voice actress and singer Auli’I Cravalho, who voices the adventurous title character Princess Moana Waialiki. According to Breitbart, Maui will accompany Moana on her mission to reach a fabled island to be reunited with her family.
Alan Tudyk and Phillipa Soo will also be featured in the film. It is directed by renowned filmmaking duo Ron Clements and John Musker. The two are well-known for their work on other Disney films such as ‘Aladdin’, ‘The Princess and the Frog’, and ‘The Little Mermaid’.
‘Moana’ is an upcoming 3D animated musical adventure-fantasy film intended as the 56th film in Disney’s animated features franchise. It is produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Osnat Shurer serves as producer while John Lasseter is executive producing.
It is scheduled to be released on November 23, 2016. It follows a young adventuress and navigator in ancient Oceania who teams up with a demi-god on a brave mission. Moana will be the first Disney Princess of color to debut after Tiana in ‘Princess and the Frog’.
