‘Modern Family’ Season 8, Episode 13 Spoilers: “Do It Yourself” – Jay Gets Insecure Over Gloria’s New Man; Phil Looking to Invest in Project with Jay

‘Modern Family’ season 8’s episode 13, titled “Do It Yourself,” is set to feature Jay as he gets insecure over Gloria’s new man in the house. Meanwhile, Phil will attempt to convince Jay to co-invest in a new property that he wants to develop.

The synopsis for “Do It Yourself” posted on TV Guide states, “Phil (Ty Burrell) eyes a property he's always had a desire to develop and wants Jay (Ed O’Neill) to be a coinvestor. Meanwhile, Claire's (Julie Bowen) fondness for a TV chef leads to a new love of cooking Sunday dinners;

Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) try to teach Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) the value of hard work; and Jay feels left out when Gloria (Sofia Vergara) hires a coach for Joe (Jeremy Maguire) who doubles as a handyman.”

The upcoming episode will follow Jay as he begins to feel like he’s being replaced as the only man in Gloria’s life when she hires Coach Gary (Peyton Manning) to coach Joe. On top of coaching Joe on sports, Gary also seems to know his way around fixing things in the house.

According to Yahoo! News, Jay would feel even worse since his wife didn’t even tell him about her decision to bring in Gary. He will begin to compare himself with the coach, getting upset over not being able to do some things that the younger man can.

The promo for episode 13 opens with Coach Gary popping out to surprise Jay. Jay, who looks more than surprised, insists that people shouldn’t sneak up on people like that. Coach Gary then proceeds to enumerate his qualifications saying, “I’m not afraid of heights… and I’ve got big hands.”

While Jay is trying to deal with his own personal issues, Phil seems empowered enough to convince the Pritchett patriarch that they should look into co-investing a property he always wanted to develop following his successful do-it-yourself stint. It would be interesting to see if Jay will join Phil in this new project.

Meanwhile, Cam and Mitch are dealing with domestic problems of their own when they realize that their little family is too reliant on technology. When they try to teach their daughter Lily the importance of hard work, this ends in chaos.

‘Modern Family’ season 8’s episode 13, titled “Do It Yourself,” is scheduled to air on February 15, 2017 on ABC. It was directed by Jeff Walker and written by Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh. It will be followed by episode 14, titled "Heavy is the Head," scheduled to be released on February 22.
