Moscow Exchange plans to start a crypto market Dec. 1 with anonymous and addressed trading options, opening a new venue for Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH) and Tether (USDT).
The exchange is beginning with those three assets, but expects the offering to broaden over time to Russian and foreign digital currencies and other digital assets. It has not identified prospective additions or set dates for them.
The National Clearing Centre will handle post-trade processing. Moscow Exchange expects settlement on the trade date or the following day.
The pilot is scheduled to begin at 10:50 p.m. ET Nov. 30 (03:50 UTC Dec. 1) and end at 3:50 p.m. ET Dec. 1 (20:50 UTC), as EconoTimes previously reported on the pilot’s schedule and proposed investor rules. It will run alongside the exchange’s existing cash-settled crypto-index futures.
Public access for individual investors is subject to regulation. Bank of Russia draft Directive No. 7441-U would allow public trading in the three assets while limiting nonqualified investors’ annual crypto purchases through brokers. The proposal was in state registration as of Nov. 1.
