Motherson Sumi Wiring India Limited posted a 47% year-over-year revenue increase in the September quarter, as richer vehicle equipment and new model programs raised wiring demand.

The company’s unaudited standalone revenue from operations was ₹4,053.83 crore (₹40.54 billion) in the three months ended Sept. 30, 2026, compared with ₹2,761.86 crore a year earlier. Its presentation attributed growth to higher wiring content per vehicle, new electric vehicle (EV) and internal combustion engine (ICE) model wins, increased customer volumes and production ramp-ups at greenfield plants.

The company’s presentation put the year-over-year increase in India’s passenger vehicle industry volumes at 25%. That figure describes the industry, not Motherson’s own sales. The company also cited vehicle premiumisation, which can raise the amount of wiring and electronic equipment in each vehicle.

EVs accounted for 10% of Motherson’s revenue in the quarter, up from 6.7% a year earlier. The company’s presentation also showed copper prices in its rupee-per-kilogram measure were about 54% higher than a year ago. Company representative Gaurav Chandak said copper inflation contributed 12 percentage points of reported revenue growth.

Management said it typically recovers higher copper costs from most customers after about three months, with some cases taking up to six months. Management said discussions over recovering copper and wage costs were continuing.

The company also cited premiumisation and new model launches as growth drivers in the prior-year quarter. EconoTimes previously covered the 35.1% year-over-year increase in standalone profit for the September quarter.

Management described the festive third quarter as typically strong and said it hoped recent momentum would continue.
