‘Mr. Robot’ season 2’ episode 6 will feature Elliot as he continues to struggle with his delusion Mr. Robot, who insists on his usefulness. Meanwhile, Darlene and Angela’s plans will hit snags along the way.
According to Carter Matt, the incoming episode entitled "eps2.4_m4ster-s1ave.aes" is set to feature more twist and turns as Elliot (Rami Malek) continues to be in grave danger while Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) tries to convince him of his usefulness.
The promo opened to Elliot on a hospital bed after he was beaten up by thugs in the preceding episode. His new acquaintance Ray (Craig Robinson) tells him, “Big days ahead. Work to do.” It was previously revealed that Ray ran a black market website that facilitated illegal trade of drugs, sex slaves, and weapons.
Meanwhile, Angela (Portia Doubleday) is warned that she can’t just learn hacking in a day to which she responds, “I will get this.” She is then seen walking into the FBI office and is told that the floor is off-limits. She continues with her mission but it seems that her plans with Darlene (Carly Chaikin) will inevitably face more complications.
The upcoming episode will be directed by series creator Sam Esmail. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Esmail talked about Ray’s influence in Elliot’s life.
He said, “Ray, to me, was a character that I always had in mind to represent the Silk Road archetype… For Ray, he’s the guy looking the other way. He’s making a lot of money, but he’s trying to ignore what’s being bought and sold on there. We just thought that was an interesting moral gray area to explore with a character. I thought it would be an interesting intersection to have Elliot confront someone like that, who is a decent guy but who could actually commit the atrocities that are on this marketplace. He’s indirectly allowing them to happen. Elliot is trying to not be that vigilante anymore. He’s trying to move away from that.”
Esmail also shed more light on Elliot’s darker side in the series’ second season. He said, “There’s the good side of his vigilantism that wants to save the world — the thing that he said at the end of the first season — that he’s locked away. He locked it away with the bad side effects of that, which is in essence what Mr. Robot embodies. He’s locked away the good and the bad and essentially zombified himself because he feels like it’s the only way to control it. This is the first time that temptation has come back to him. That harkens back to the Elliot we saw in the first season, but it’s a very reluctant Elliot. He actually doesn’t act fast enough, and he gets punished for that.”
‘Mr. Robot’ is a drama and psychological thriller television series that aired on the USA Network on June 2015. It received critical acclaim as well as multiple nominations including six Emmy Award nominations. Season 2’s episode 6 is scheduled to air on August 10, 2016.
