Tesla CEO Elon Musk said X plans to let users send $1 through X Money by holding the Like button, adding a payment shortcut to the platform’s existing service.

He gave no release date and did not explain how users would authorize a payment or who would receive it.

X currently offers peer-to-peer transfers through a Money tab. The company says payments are usually instant and free when both people use Money, while completed transfers cannot be reversed. Payments left unclaimed typically expire within 14 days, according to X.

X says Money is rolling out to selected users in the United States who are 18 or older. To qualify, users must live in the country, verify a U.S. phone number, have an X account in good standing and accept the service’s account documents.

Cross River Bank said on July 27 that it would provide banking infrastructure for X Money. The service includes a Visa debit card, which X says users can add to Apple Pay, Google Pay and other supported digital wallets for contactless payments where accepted.
