Plateau State Gov. Caleb Mutfwang and All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda opened a state-level door-to-door organization in Jos to rally support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

Premium Times, Punch and Vanguard reported that the two leaders asked Plateau residents to support Tinubu. The gathering inaugurated the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement’s Plateau chapter ahead of the 2027 vote.

Punch and Vanguard reported that organizers unveiled 25 campaign vehicles.

Mutfwang announced a Tinubu rally for Nov. 14 at Zaria Road Stadium in Jos and urged members to mobilize at least 50 people each, Punch reported. The outlet also said Mutfwang described door-to-door outreach as echoing a strategy used in the 2023 election campaign.

The leaders also outlined political goals beyond the new chapter’s local outreach. Premium Times reported that Yilwatda called on the APC to win all 24 seats in Plateau’s State House of Assembly and urged support for party candidates in other races. He argued that coordination between federal and state governments could aid development, the outlet reported.

Mutfwang said his support for Tinubu followed a June 6, 2023, meeting with the president, Premium Times reported. He said the meeting led him to view Tinubu as “the president to travel with.” Mutfwang also backed the administration’s reform agenda while acknowledging national challenges, the outlet reported.

EconoTimes had earlier previewed plans for the Kaduna rally.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) lists Jan. 16, 2027, for the presidential and National Assembly elections on its current calendar.
