Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) plans to open its 2027 presidential campaign in Kaduna on Saturday with a rally intended to mobilize support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, BusinessDay reported.

The gathering is scheduled for Kaduna Township Stadium. Organizers have arranged seating and decorated the VIP stand, with air-conditioning facilities installed at the stadium. Tents are ready for party leaders, elected officials and supporters coming from around the country, the newspaper reported.

Security personnel have been assigned across strategic locations in Kaduna metropolis, BusinessDay reported. The Nigeria Police Force had staff positioned around the city; troops from the Nigerian Army and officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were also assigned to the operation.

The expected audience includes APC governors, federal lawmakers and state legislators, as well as local government chairmen, councillors and party stakeholders from different parts of Nigeria. BusinessDay said the rally is expected to give the APC an opportunity to reinforce its political structure, strengthen ties among leaders and begin broader mobilization before the 2027 election.

The rally follows the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s inauguration on Oct. 14. At that event, Tinubu said the council would lead campaign activity nationwide. APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda said campaign messaging should show how reforms and investment affect everyday life, describing the desired result as “practical improvement in our daily lives.”

BusinessDay also reported campaign signs around Kaduna, including posters and banners featuring Tinubu and Kaduna State Gov. Uba Sani.

In interviews with Premium Times, Kaduna residents identified food and transport costs, security and job opportunities as campaign priorities; EconoTimes previously covered residents’ concerns ahead of the rally.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) lists Jan. 16, 2027, for presidential and National Assembly elections. The campaign calendar reported earlier by EconoTimes sets the Kaduna event in the run-up to that vote.
