“NCIS” Season 16 will only involve a pure military investigation as Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his crew will be looking into the unusual friendly-fire deaths that have been happening overseas. Although cases like this tend to happen, higher-ups seem to be convinced that someone is orchestrating these mishaps, The Daily Express reported.
While showrunners aren’t providing any major details as to what will occur in the next episode of “NCIS” Season 16, the story appears to be similar to “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.” It can be recalled that this film also involved the murder of two military personnel although their case wasn’t a friendly fire.
Instead, the deaths were considered as a straight-up gun-down and were placed on the shoulders of Major Susan Turner (Colbie Smulders). Long story short, the major was framed by the one who was truly responsible for the killings and was found to be selling weapons to insurgents and is dealing in the drug trade. The upcoming episode of “NCIS” Season 16 might very well have the same story to tell.
After all, if a soldier discovers a major violation of his comrade, the wrongdoer can simply wait until a fight breaks out before gunning down his victim and pretending to have misfired. Of course, this is just speculation at this point and “NCIS” Season 16 Episode 8 might very well take on a different path.
Whatever the case, this could be an interesting episode for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, especially since Veterans Days was recently celebrated. On another note, fans are also waiting for the shocking development this midseason of “NCIS” Season 16 as there will be a major shakeup in the overarching plotline of the series.
The change in question is the upcoming feud between Gibbs and the Secretary of Defense. The friction stems from the fact that somewhere along “NCIS” Season 16, Gibbs will disobey his superior’s orders leading to an inside investigation of the team.
This development is also speculated to cause a member of the crew to lose his or her position, which means an important character will be leaving the series. If so, this will mark the second time that a beloved member of the squad is put on the chopping block this installment. As for when “NCIS” Season 16 Episode 8 will air, “Friendly Fire” will be released on Nov. 20.
