NDTV Profit reported that Downdetector's Google Pay complaint tally in India fell from 62 to 41 in two readings 22 minutes apart on Nov. 5. The change does not show how many transactions failed.

NDTV Profit said 45% of reports concerned fund transfers, 39% payments and 14% app problems. It named Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune among the places with the most reports.

Downdetector says its chart reflects user submissions. It checks for spikes against the average for the same time of day over the previous six months and limits repeat reports from one user in the displayed total.

Google's Pay API status dashboard showed no incidents at 7:26 p.m. UTC on Nov. 5. Google's documentation says the page tracks its payment APIs for Android and web, so the listing does not speak to the consumer UPI service in India.

Google's India terms say Google Pay facilitates UPI transactions through HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and State Bank of India. The terms identify the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) as UPI's operator; NPCI describes UPI as an instant system for transferring money between bank accounts.
