A 10-year review by NDTV Profit found India's Nifty Smallcap 100 ended November higher more often than the Nifty 50, despite similar average returns, underscoring the difference between consistency and average performance.

NDTV Profit reported that the Nifty Smallcap 100 was positive in seven of 10 years and averaged 2%. The Nifty 50 finished higher in six of 10, with an average return of about 2%. The Nifty Midcap 100 was positive in eight of 10 years and averaged 2.7%.

The count and the average describe separate features of the record: how many Novembers ended higher and the average return across the 10-year review. The Smallcap 100 had more positive years than the Nifty 50 despite similar averages; the Midcap 100 exceeded the Nifty 50 on both measures. Neither figure provides a year-by-year account of how large the gains or losses were.

Sector results also varied. NDTV Profit reported that the banking index was positive in eight of 10 years, with a 3.8% average November return. The metal index was positive in five of 10 years and averaged 3.3%. The banking index therefore had both more positive years and the higher average in the outlet's figures.

For individual stocks, NDTV Profit listed Vodafone Idea at a 12.1% average November return and Hindustan Aeronautics at 8%. The outlet said its list of positive-return stocks included names that gained in at least seven of the 10 Novembers.

The review does not specify which calendar years it covers or explain its return calculation, including whether dividends counted. NSE Indices' official historical-data portal lists price records and total-return index values.

The comparison is limited to November and the 10 years covered by the review. Because the report does not name those years, it does not show which market period produced the listed averages and counts.
