The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said a plane may have broken up in midair in a Florida crash that killed nine people, CBS News reported.

The crash occurred in Palm Beach County on Sunday, Nov. 1. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) placed it at about 12:50 p.m. ET and said the Learjet 60 was flying from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas.

The FAA said the NTSB would lead the investigation, as detailed in earlier EconoTimes coverage of the crash probe. The FAA's initial notice did not identify a cause. NTSB officials took questions about the investigation Monday, CBS News reported.
