NiSource reported higher third-quarter 2026 earnings and extended its capital plan through 2033, with $40 billion in planned spending that includes investments in data centers.

Net income available to common shareholders under generally accepted accounting principles rose to $129.5 million, or $0.27 per diluted share, from $94.7 million, or $0.20 per share, in the year-earlier quarter. The company announced the results Wednesday in an earnings release attached to its Form 8-K filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

On a non-GAAP basis, adjusted net income available to common shareholders was $130.9 million, up from $91.8 million a year earlier. NiSource narrowed its 2026 consolidated adjusted earnings per share (EPS) guidance to the upper half of its $2.02-$2.07 range. For 2027, it gave non-GAAP consolidated adjusted EPS guidance of $2.22-$2.30.

The capital program covers 2027 through 2033. Of the planned $40 billion, $32 billion is for the base plan and $8 billion is for data center investments. NiSource projects its consolidated investment base will grow 9%-10% and its consolidated adjusted EPS will grow at a 10%-11% compound annual growth rate over the period.

The company defines consolidated adjusted EPS to include its base plan and data center operations and development. The release says NiSource does not provide a GAAP equivalent for its forward-looking base-plan and consolidated adjusted EPS guidance.

NiSource said its signed GenCo agreements, including a new agreement with Microsoft, are expected to generate about $1.75 billion in savings for existing customers. The company also said its CEO cited extreme weather and opportunities involving Microsoft and the GenCo pipeline as factors supporting its investment and growth outlook.

The 8-K lists the earnings results under Item 2.02 and financial statements and exhibits under Item 9.01.
