Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made 32,518 voter cards available for collection in Kwara State, where an official reported low turnout ahead of the 2027 presidential election, BusinessDay reported.

AbdulKadir Ibrahim, head of the Public Affairs and Protocol Unit at INEC's Kwara State office, told journalists in Ilorin that collection turnout was low, BusinessDay reported. The 32,518 figure refers to cards available for collection, not cards already picked up.

The batch covers voters who transferred their registration, replaced lost or damaged cards, updated their records or took part in earlier registration exercises and reviews conducted in 2025, Ibrahim said. Cards for newly registered voters were not yet ready when he spoke.

INEC displayed the national voter register at designated centers across Kwara State's 193 wards from Oct. 9 to Oct. 15. Ibrahim said cards remaining at ward collection points would be moved to 16 centers at local government council offices. At the time, he urged eligible voters to use the closer ward sites before the planned move, which would require them to travel to council offices for collection.

INEC's election calendar schedules the presidential vote for Jan. 16, 2027.
