Nirva’s first device is a $249 AI wearable that can be worn as a pendant or bracelet, with orders planned for November; new financing has brought the company’s total funding to $33 million.
Investors put $25 million into Nirva in a pre-Series A financing. The startup’s earlier $8 million raise this year included Lightspeed and South Park Commons, and it expects to send its first devices to early users by year-end.
At about 8 grams, the unit is built for as much as three days between charges. Buyers can choose silver, brushed silver, black or gold.
During setup, users provide voice samples that are used to model their speech. The wearable is meant to disregard voices and other material it captures from people near the wearer. Under the default setting, audio and written records are erased after processing.
The app gives users observations drawn from their speech, including themes around emotion and communication style. It can also suggest reminders and follow-up tasks.
