When the Nokia X6 was launched in China on Jul 10, the device proved to be extremely popular. In fact, JD.com notes that out of 10 smartphones sold by the site, five were of the Nokia X6. It is also selling 10 units of the handset per minute, which is astounding as far as smartphone sales go. Unfortunately for HMD Global, the company selling the Nokia brand, the Xiaomi Mi A2 is coming and it poses a threat.
In terms of specifications, the Nokia X6 or the Nokia 6.1 Plus, as it will be known to the rest of the world, isn’t that impressive. Mysmartprice notes that it’s a 5.8-inch device with an LCD screen and comes with a 2280 × 1080 resolution. In terms of screen-to-body ratio, the Nokia X6 achieves 85 percent, which isn’t too bad considering the price.
The device is expected to retail at around $300 USD, after all, so the Nokia X6 is definitely a budget phone. On the other hand, the same can be said about the Mi A2. As Telecomtalk notes, this new offering by Xiaomi certainly poses a threat to the upward momentum being built by the Nokia X6.
The Nokia X6 is expected to hit the global market on July 19 while the Xiaomi Mi A2 will hit the market on July 24. The latter device is expected to come in two variants, with the Mi A2 Plus boasting a bigger and better screen.
It will be powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, which isn’t particularly powerful but isn’t weak either. The device will also come with 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. The rear cameras will also offer 12MP and 20MP shots, which many argue are better than that of the Nokia X6. So, as far as competition goes, the Mi A2 is a serious one.
