South Korean and U.S. officials are assessing a North Korean missile launch from Sondok after several projectiles headed toward the East Sea on Nov. 4, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said.

The cited reports did not give an exact count or launch time, or identify the missiles’ type, range, trajectory or impact area. The JCS said officials from both countries were conducting a detailed review of the missiles’ specifications.

A separate launch from Wonsan occurred on Oct. 29. The JCS said it involved about 10 short-range ballistic missiles. The Associated Press reported that each traveled about 250 kilometers. The Wonsan firing also featured in earlier EconoTimes coverage of South Korea’s support for U.S. outreach to North Korea.

Channel NewsAsia reported that North Korea announced a strategic cruise-missile test on Nov. 3 and a cluster-warhead test over the weekend. The outlet also reported that the East Sea is known as the Sea of Japan.
