Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) ended Friday’s session on the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) higher after an early decline, with provider estimates differing on how its morning quote compared with a 20-day moving average.
NSE data show the shares closed at ₹231.76, up ₹1.76, or 0.77%, from the previous close of ₹230. The stock opened at ₹232 and traded between ₹225.30 and ₹232.11. The closing price was above both providers’ average estimates.
The Economic Times reported that ONGC traded at ₹226.19 at 11:13 p.m. EST on Nov. 5 (04:13 UTC Nov. 6), down 1.66%. The outlet compared that price with a 20-day simple moving average of ₹226.27. ETMoney also listed the average at ₹226.27, while Anand Rathi’s figure was ₹225.96, putting the reported price below one estimate and above the other.
ONGC said year-over-year growth in quarterly production moderated amid operational challenges, citing complications at its KG-98/2 asset, monsoon disruptions and delays in pipeline replacement work. It also said lower customer offtake affected gas production from onshore fields. The company did not link these operating issues to Friday’s share-price movement.
In its Nov. 5 results release, ONGC reported standalone net profit of ₹15,489 crore for the quarter ended Sept. 30, up 57.3% from a year earlier. Consolidated net profit rose 46.9% to ₹18,535 crore.
The board approved an interim dividend of ₹8 for each ₹5-face-value share, with a stated total payout of ₹10,064 crore. The company set Nov. 12 as the record date.
