Official images of the highly anticipated Air Jordan 4 “Pure Platinum” have been released, exciting sneaker fans. Meanwhile, Sotheby’s will host the Air Jordan XX Doernbecher auction, marking the 20th anniversary of the beloved collaboration and honoring its legacy.
Official Images Reveal Air Jordan 4 'Pure Platinum' with Sleek, Premium Design for Girls and Women
The Air Jordan 4 has undergone several notable transformations in 2024. First came the resto-modded Air Jordan 4 RM, followed by the much-debated Air Jordan 4 Net. However, for those who prefer a more classic take, the upcoming Air Jordan 4 “Pure Platinum,” designed exclusively for girls and women with smaller feet, promises a timeless appeal.
According to Sneaker News, this Girls GS exclusive features a winter-ready color scheme, combining Pure Platinum, Sail, and Black with Metallic Gold accents, a staple in women’s Jordan releases, appearing on the Jumpman branding on the tongue and heel. The design removes the usual nylon tongue patch, replacing it with a premium satin-finished lining, giving the shoe a more refined and less padded look. Official images of the “Pure Platinum” Air Jordan 4 have been unveiled, and the release is scheduled for November 1st, available in GS/PS/TD sizing.
Nike Celebrates 20 Years of Doernbecher Freestyle with Ultra-Limited Air Jordan XX Auction at Sotheby’s
In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Doernbecher Freestyle, Nike has crafted an ultra-limited edition Air Jordan XX, featuring details that celebrate two decades of creativity. The design includes the signature laser graphics associated with the silhouette, showcasing an assortment of etched designs that pay homage to the twenty years of patient-created designs.
This marks the first time the Air Jordan 20 has been included in the Doernbecher Freestyle collection. Originally designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan XX featured iconic laser graphics depicting Michael Jordan’s career on the mid-foot strap. The lasering technique, pioneered by Nike's long-time creative Mark Smith, became a hallmark of the brand’s limited-edition products, including notable releases like the Entourage Air Force 1 and the Mark Smith x Air Force 1 “Laser.”
For this special edition, Nike designers crafted a new mosaic honoring the 122 patient designers who contributed their creative talents over the past twenty years. Only twenty individually numbered pairs, with auctions through Sotheby’s, will be released. The auction begins on October 21st, 2024, and will run through October 30th, 2024, at noon ET. Starting bids for each pair will begin at $1, though estimates suggest they will reach upwards of $2,000.
