The three awards presented to the Olive Group AVSEC team were:
AVSEC Team of the Year, for outstanding contribution to the improvement of AVSEC in conflict zones over the last five years, particularly in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Olive Group team developed AVSEC standards at its airports of operation to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annex 17 Standards. As a result of these significant improvements made by the Olive Group team, major international airlines including Emirates, Fly Dubai, Turkish Airlines, Indian Airlines, Pakistan International and others, are now able to conduct regular operations into international airports at Kabul, Kandahar, Herat and Mazer-e-Sharif in Afghanistan and Al Najaf in Iraq.
AVSEC Trainer of the Year Award, awarded to Mr. Hendry Davids, Training Manager at the Olive Group Training Centre in Afghanistan. His dedication to the development of the Olive Group Training Centre in Kabul and the professional development of Olive Group’s Afghan national staff members was recognized as an exemplary achievement.
AVSEC Training Organization of the Year, awarded to Olive Group’s Training Centre based in Kabul, which is currently under the direction of Mr. Christopher Murphy, Project Manager; Mr. Jose Ferreira, Compliance & Audit Manager; and Mr. Hendry Davids, Training Manager. The center has successfully developed training programs and systems for Afghanistan’s international airports and other Constellis aviation security projects in Iraq and Somalia. The exceptional AVSEC training that Olive Group’s team provided to local national staff has enabled Olive Group AVSEC personnel to successfully prevent serious security incidents from impacting civil aviation operations at all airports under Olive Group’s responsibility for AVSEC operations, since November 2012.
Olive Group was in competition with strong aviation security providers from the USA, Singapore, UK, UAE and France. Awards were made to Olive Group by a panel of experts from Emirates Airlines and the Edith Cowan University of West Australia, a leading provider of academic training for the aviation security industry. The AVSEC Global Symposium and awards were attended by over 500 industry leaders.
