Omoda and Jaecoo, brands in China's Chery Group, reported a 123% jump in September sales to 73,421 vehicles as registrations strengthened across major European markets.
Their combined sales from January through September reached 587,846, according to an Oct. 9 company release. Chery said new-energy vehicles contributed 53,957 units in September, about 73.5% of the monthly total, after sales in that category rose 184% year over year.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) lists 15,057 Jaecoo and 7,241 Omoda registrations in the United Kingdom in September. Together, those entries total 22,298, or about 6.36% of the country's 350,536 registrations. The Jaecoo 7 registered 10,814 units, the highest count for any model that month, according to the SMMT table. The SMMT's final table put the model's January-September registrations at 39,474; Chery's UK release reported a 106% year-over-year gain for the brands' September registrations.
Company figures put September registrations in Spain at 4,010, up 91.5% from a year earlier. Electrified vehicles made up 98% of the brands' Spanish sales, where they held a 4.3% market share. In France, the reported total was 3,003, including 2,589 for Jaecoo, about six months after its market entry. Italy recorded 4,678 registrations and a 3.31% market share; its January-September total reached 32,945, up 256.23%, the company said.
Chery's UK release said the new registration plate introduced in September typically boosts activity there. It also said the Jaecoo 7 led the UK model ranking in March. Worldwide sales figures are company-reported, while the country figures above count registrations.
Chery Automobile plans to open an engineering center at UTAC Millbrook in Bedfordshire in late autumn 2026. The company says initial work there will cover calibration of vehicle chassis and driver-assistance systems.
