The OnePlus 6T has long been anticipated by fans of its predecessor, the OnePlus 6. Since the OnePlus 6’s release in May, users have speculated on when the 6T variant will be released.
So far, however, no new reports have been forthcoming and even rumors are deathly quiet apart from a single response from a One Plus forum moderator. A user asked sought advice on the forum on whether or not to wait for the One Plus 6T, Piunika Web reported.
An assistant head moderator replied to the user and said that if they’re really interested in the One Plus 6T then they should just wait as it will be released in the coming months. However, the moderator added that exact date of the release is still unknown and the user will have to wait for the official announcement from OnePlus itself.
Of course, it’s important to remember that the moderator isn’t part of the One Plus staff and their response shouldn’t be taken as concrete evidence that the manufacturer is indeed planning to make a One Plus 6T variant. However, more often than not, moderators know a lot more than consumers so there might still be some nugget of truth in the statement somewhere.
One of the reasons why One Plus is reticent about the One Plus 6T is that the company feels there isn’t enough value in adding the new variant at the moment. It can be remembered that the OnePlus 3T model was created because Qualcomm released its 821 SoC, while the OnePlus 5T was made because users got a bigger display ratio of 18:9.
So for the OnePlus 6T version to be made, the company needs to justify whether the new variant will provide a superior smartphone experience for users. The flagship device has been a hit for consumers as it offered a lot of high-end specs for a lower price compared to its rivals, which are the Google Pixel 2 XL, Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, iPhone X, and Huawei P20 Pro.
