Google Cloud is opening an invite-only test of three OpenAI frontier models for approved business users, giving companies another way to evaluate the systems within Google’s cloud services.

The preview includes GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna. Approved participants can access them through Google Cloud APIs for development and internal testing, but cannot use the preview for production deployments. Google Cloud says developers can also connect local Codex tools to the service.

Google Cloud says customers will be able to buy access through its Marketplace. Buyers can apply existing cloud spending commitments to purchases, with charges appearing on their Google Cloud bills.

On information handling, Google Cloud says prompts, generated responses and associated context stay inside each customer’s designated data boundaries. The company says it will not use those inputs or outputs to train foundation models. Google says the models will run on dedicated Google Cloud infrastructure.

Google Cloud supported deployments of OpenAI’s gpt-oss models in 2025, so the latest announcement adds OpenAI’s frontier systems rather than marking the company’s first presence on the platform.

Broader cloud distribution became possible after Microsoft announced a change to its arrangement with OpenAI on Apr. 27. The revised terms let OpenAI offer its products through other cloud providers while Microsoft keeps the lead role for its cloud needs; its license to OpenAI intellectual property is no longer exclusive. Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a limited preview of OpenAI models on Bedrock on Apr. 28.

Google Cloud says the models will also come to Gemini for business and Google Antigravity. OpenAI expects general availability in the coming weeks but has not given a date.

CNBC reported that the announcement is part of OpenAI’s effort to grow enterprise use alongside its consumer products. The outlet also reported that OpenAI used Google Cloud last year to run ChatGPT and its application programming interface, before this customer-facing model access was announced.
