The nine-week total exceeded activity from the roughly three years and three months before it. Agent token use was about seven times human-interaction use by the final week of September.

OpenRouter's total for the week of Oct. 26 reached about 194 trillion tokens, enough to put its annualized pace above 10 quadrillion for the first time.

The annualized figure projects one week's output across a year. It estimates a pace rather than a completed-year token count. The weekly reading and nine-week total cover different periods.

The platform logged more tokens in its latest nine-week period than during the approximately 39 months leading up to it.

By the final week of September, agents were using about seven times as many tokens as human interactions on OpenRouter; the crossover occurred on Feb. 6.

One contributor to agent totals is repeated context. A task may send its instructions, tool definitions and records of earlier steps again as it proceeds, with longer tasks repeating more material.
