Planned demonstrations around the National Rally congress are bringing extra security to Orléans, where officials have set a citywide overnight curfew for unaccompanied children under 15.
City officials linked the broader security plan to disturbances in central Orléans on Oct. 17 and crowds expected around the congress. Anadolu Agency reported that thousands were expected at demonstrations opposing the far-right party.
Other French cities have also imposed restrictions: Paris and Lyon extended curfews, while Marseille restricted unaccompanied minors.
The order applies across Orléans to children younger than 15 unless they are accompanied by a parent or an adult expressly authorized by a parent. The first period runs from 3 p.m. ET Oct. 24 to 1 a.m. ET Oct. 25; the second runs from 4 p.m. ET Oct. 25 to 1 a.m. ET Oct. 26.
In France, the first period runs from 9 p.m. CEST Oct. 24 to 6 a.m. CET Oct. 25. The second runs from 9 p.m. CET Oct. 25 to 6 a.m. CET Oct. 26.
