‘Outlander’ season 3 is set to return on Starz in September. Cast and crew headed to South Africa to film more scenes for the upcoming season and some photographs from the filming set have recently been released. Meanwhile, it was speculated that Jamie may have new women in his life before he reunites with his old love Claire.
According to Christian Post, filming for the third season of Starz’ popular historical time travel television series had commenced in South Africa. Newly released photographs from the filming set showed cast and crew including main co-stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, who play Claire and Jamie respectively.
Some fans managed to get photographs with Balfe and Heughan in South Africa and posted these on social media. Executive producer Matthew B. Roberts also posted photographs on his own Twitter account as he scouted locations in Cape Town.
Cesar Domboy and Lauren Lyle, who play new characters Fergus and Marsali respectively, took to social media to update their fans on new developments when they arrived in South Africa. It was previously revealed that the new locale will serve as the location for some sea voyage scenes.
The British-American time travel series is based on the novels authored by Diana Gabaldon and follows a married World War II nurse caught in the middle of the Jacobite uprisings after finding herself transported back in time to Scotland in the 1700s.
Season 3 will follow Claire and Jamie as they adjust to life without one another following their separation in the previous season. Claire attempts to forge a new life with her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies) while Jamie struggles to continue living after the Battle of Culloden. However, the two characters are set to reunite when Claire returns to the past to find Jamie.
According to Celebeat, Jamie may have new women in his life, which will usher in complications for him and Claire. Laoghaire (Nell Hudson) will continue to try and win Jamie’s affections while a widow will offer her body to Jamie before he is taken to prison.
‘Outlander’ season 3 is expected to return on September 2017 on Starz. It will adapt Gabaldon’s third novel, titled “Voyager.”
