“Overlord” season 4 is likely to be renewed as fans are hoping however, it may not arrive this year and the viewers may have to wait a long time for it to arrive. So, why would the anime be delayed?
Madhouse, the animation studio that produced the animated adaption from a light novel series, is currently facing many issues with the production of “Overlord” season 4. Currently, the show is not yet renewed as per Anime Date because the producer must make sure that things will go smoothly once the production begins.
Likewise, they could not confirm yet as it was revealed that there is not much story left from the novel that could be adapted to the TV series. Apparently, author Kugane Maruyama has not completed new stories and everything that he has written has already been converted to the anime series and were showed via the episodes in “Overlord” season 3.
The author has written 13 volumes up to this point and Madhouse already used up the first nine volumes for the third season of the anime series. While there are still four volumes left, this is not enough to produce “Overlord” season 4 so its production is still hinged on Kugane Maruyama’s ability to write the needed materials.
Furthermore, OtakuKart mentioned that another thing why “Overlord” season 4 is delayed is because the animation studio is currently understaffed. With the lack of materials and employees, there is no way for the anime to return this year.
“Overlord” season 4 will surely be confirmed at some point and perhaps it may arrive in the last part of 2020 or mid-2021. As said before, it may take time but the fourth installment is still bound to happen. Probably, the fourth season will also be the last as Kugane Maruyama once said that he plans to end his novel at volume 20 which is just enough to complete one whole season.
