Whittier, Calif., June 21, 2017 -- PIH Health experts remind Medicare eligible beneficiaries who are approaching 65-years-old of the seven-month Initial Enrollment Period where potential recipients can enroll in Medicare to avoid possible penalties, such as higher premiums. The Medicare enrollment period begins three months prior to the month of the beneficiary’s 65th birthday and ends three months after the birthday month.

Those who are approaching 65 should enroll during his/her eligible period. Original Medicare is managed by the federal government; however, it does not provide the full coverage you may need. For additional coverage from private insurance companies, people have the option to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan that works like an HMO with more benefits at no additional costs or a Medicare Supplement plan, which covers the gaps in Original Medicare at a higher premium. More information can be found at Medicare.gov.
“PIH Health provides exceptional medical care and a broad range of services for the senior members in our community, and accepts various forms of Medicare,” says Roberto Madrid, MD, MBA, vice president of medical group operations at PIH Health Physicians. “We are a leader in providing care to seniors living within the San Gabriel Valley, Southeastern Los Angeles County and Northern Orange County.”
