PNC Bank plans to invest about $2.5 billion in its U.S. branch network, targeting more than 370 new locations by 2031 and 2,400 hires as it extends its physical reach.

More than 70 branches in the broader program have opened, PNC said. The latest additions cover six markets in South Carolina — Greenville, Charleston, Columbia, Myrtle Beach, Spartanburg and Hilton Head — and two in Georgia, Savannah and Augusta.

PNC lists plans for 12 branches in Greenville; nine each in Charleston and Columbia; five in Myrtle Beach; four in Spartanburg; three in Hilton Head; six in Savannah; and five in Augusta. The allocations total 53 branches. Ten further sites are planned across Texas, Florida and North Carolina, with no state-by-state breakdown. The eight new markets bring the buildout to 28 markets overall.

The expanded goal updates a plan PNC announced in November 2025 to open more than 300 branches by 2030, backed by about $2 billion in branch investment. The new target extends the deadline to 2031 and raises the planned investment to about $2.5 billion.

PNC said customer response and performance in markets reached by earlier phases helped shape the expansion. The bank is also targeting markets it describes as high-growth. It expects to hire 2,400 people for the broader program and says additional bankers will make its advice and services more accessible in the communities it serves.

PNC reported that active digital users were 9% higher year over year in the third quarter of 2026, following the nationwide rollout of a new mobile app. The bank has not specified how the investment will be divided among construction, renovations and other network costs. Starting in 2027, it plans to build 60 branches annually while continuing renovations at existing locations.
