Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir is expected in Tehran Tuesday for U.S.-Iran mediation talks, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported Monday.

The planned meetings with Iranian officials would address diplomatic efforts to end the conflict and developments across the region, Tasnim said.

Before the Oct. 19 Tehran talks, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said the agenda included regional issues and Moscow’s efforts to ease tensions.

After talks in Tehran on Oct. 19, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov offered Moscow’s help in seeking a negotiated end to the war.

Munir’s meetings with Iranian officials are expected Tuesday.
