Pakistan’s military said it killed four militants during an operation in Balochistan on Oct. 18, while an improvised explosive device killed an army major in a separate incident.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, said the Jattakabad operation took place in Kalat district. Security forces recovered arms and ammunition there, it said.
In a separate operation in the general area of Shadi Kaur, Pasni tehsil, Gwadar district, an IED hit the force component led by Major Wajahat Waheed, killing him, ISPR said. The release did not give a date for the Gwadar incident.
ISPR said intelligence reports identified militant hideouts in both areas and indicated a threat to the local population. The military said the operations were conducted in response to those reports. It said security forces would continue efforts in the area to eliminate any other militants found there.
